Hi all I know it has been a while, 11 months has passed and here are some new updates... My hair is really growing. It will be a year on August 9.....my loctician said that since I got my hair colored it's looks as though I have more locs... Yes I do love my new color and it is Very Dark Brown....not black

Hello everyone!

I have been so busy with my new job, God is good.... Yesterday I wanted to try something with my hair, I pulled my hair up and I was thinking, I can put my hair in a ponytail... so I did. Just the top but I was still able to do so.... Enjoy th picks, by August my first year locversay I should have a full ponytail:)

Sister Loc family, yes I have been away for a while, I have such wonderful news, God is truly good, not off of what I heard but what I know. I recently was promoted into the ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT as a Change Control Analyst. You guys I just graduated with my degree in Information Systems from the University of Phoenix less than 8 months ago. My interview was January 12,2009. I prayed for two years for God to elevate me into my career field, I had no experience, I only had experience in faith, out of 112 applicants I was one of 1 of 2 that was chosen to interview. By that Wednesday my previous manager had gotten a call, and b/c of the process with Human Resources they held that info for 2 weeks. The HR rep contacted, emailed me the contract, told me I had a 56 percent raise. OOOOOOHHHHH, i'm the only black woman in my department. Thank you Lord..... here are some updates with my first day shot and 7 month updates. I was also in a photo shoot today, my consultant is revamping her web page, so look for me......

Happy Holidays to everyone, I finally have my three month pictures. I really do love my hair, I know thse are repeat words but I do. I have Thanksgiving pic after my friend styled my hair, I also have the wash and band and a close pic after I washed my hair.

Hair Shrinkage

I know, I know, I don't have any pictures, but my hair is shrinking. Is that a good sign that my hair is locing. I hope so I have bee doing everything that I was suppose to do from the beginning. When I pull my hair then it extends, then when I let it go it springs back up. Hopefully I will only be at this stage momentarily. If not I love wearing headbands and scarves.

Hello Blog family today marks my two month locversary and what do you know, two people identified me as having sister locks. I got into a whole conversation at work with someone who are starting traditional locks and then at the nail shop! It was great I love it, so of course I have pictures of my hair, my new fire nail color, and what do you know my engagement ring! My man did a wonderful job picking out this ring he is wonderful, I love him!

Hello blog family, October 3rd was my birthday, I went out to eat, receivedwonderful gifts and went to a wedding! I had a wonderful day, here are some picks me and my family members and friends. On Saturday I go and get my hair retighten, hopefully this time it is less than one hour as well. My hair has really grown I will post some close up pics of my hair soon! I love this man very very much, we are soon to be married! We have been friends for 11 1/2 years and he has been my man for almost 11 years at the end of September! I remember our first date is was July 11, 1999, we had went to see Armagedon, with Liv Tyler and Ben Affleck, it made me cry. Then afterwards we went to our favorite park. I have my two favorite men, what else could a girl ask for!

1st Month

Hello blog family! Today marks my first month being loc'd, I shampooed my hair, I did exactly what I was told. I diluted the shampoo with water in a spray bottle, I braided, banded and sprayed my scalp. I took one finger and rubbed the shampoo through my head. When I got finished I didn'r have any slippage, HOORAY! I was so glad that my hair held up! The first picks are my braiding and banding. Oh I had my first retight and guess how long it took my loctician long to complet my hair. 45 minutes, yes and it was all 420, she even combined some of my sides that were strong enough to be added!

I just love my hair, did I mention that before :) I have been styling my hair in different style, check out the pictures! The first two pics I had rocked a mohawk with the top spiked. The last two I have twist going from one side to the next and a few twist in the front to give it some height!

Although my locks are new I still wanted to try some styles so I went and bought some small perm rods! I rolled my hair, I just use my spray bottle with plain water. After I rolled my hair I got in a hot, hot shower and when I took the rods out, I had tight curl. I got up late this morning for work, so I didn't have time to style I had to take the rods out, run my fingers thru my hair and leave out the door. I forgot to take my camera to work so I only have a few shots of what it looked like before he style.

On Monday my son started 2nd grade. He is starting to become a big boy, when I dropped him off at school he asked me if I could stop taking pictures. He is my baby what am I supposed to do!

These are the pics of the finished product! I had taken a picture before I left the house on Sunday with my huge earraings on, I love big earrings anyway and since I don't have the length the earrings will bring my hair out more! When I got to church, I got a lot of compliments which they all thought I looked great, people also said they have never seen me without my weave! It has been 10 years since anyone has seen my hair. I love it!

Day of Sister Locks

August 9, 2008, the day I got my hair locked, I took pictures of my afro moments before my hair was loc'd. I loved every minute of it, my consultant Jeannine got started around 10:30 am and we finished at 9pm. I was falling asleep in the chair but after she sprayed my hair down, braided and banded, I had sat under the dryer for about 20 minutes. She then came back and took the braids down, she showed me my hair, I went into the bathroom, with my earrings and lip gloss and I was ready to go. I love my hair and look forward to the journey.

Ok so why did I want to get my hair colored and for the life of me, it would not do what it was suppose to do. My sister who is a beautician is wonderful, she worked until she got it to a color that I was happy with. When I tell you that I looked like bozo the clown with all of that red hair, I almost choked. I mean I wanted to be bold but not that bold!

I'm so excited, on Wednesday at 3 pm I go and see my consultant about getting my sister locks installed. I have been waiting for a long time to get something done to my own natural hair until I thought I would be wearing weaves and braids for the rest of my life. Hopefully if she has any openings I can gt my hair done that Thursday, Friday or that Monday! She already said her weekends where booked!

I have went through a transition of various hairstyles, I have the microbraids, tree braids and weaves. Anything that was not my real hair I wore it, then a couple of weeks ago, I thought I have been wearing other peoples hair for way to long and it is time that I let my hair do it's thing! I'm so ready to get my hair sister lockd I don't know what to do. I have read a lot of blogs and I know what to expect, although everyone's journey is different, i'm ready to get started on mines!

Hello, to all my natural brother's and sister's. I am on my way to being sister locked! I have my consultation on August 6, 2008. I have thought about getting locks for a long time, I just didn't know which style I wanted to ROCK!! I have been natural for 3 years, I have been wearing braids and weaves for over 10 years and i'm tired. It is time for a change, hopefully if my consultant is not booked I will get my hair done the same week!
